RBI Promotion Chances

 
 RBI has recently announced 2013 recruitment for both Grade B officers and Assistants. In this situation, many inquiries are flooding in regarding the perks, privileges, salaries and promotional avenues of these posts in RBI. Considering the popular demand, the promotional avenues are discussed here. Salaries, perks and privileges will also be added in future after the confirmation of the facts. 


The whole chain of hierarchy in RBI, from bottom to top is as follows -

Central Board of Directors

The Central Board of Directors is at the top of the Reserve Bank’s organisational structure. Appointed by the Government under the provisions of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, the Central Board has the primary authority and responsibility for the oversight of the Reserve Bank. It delegates specific functions to the Local Boards and various committees. The Governor is the Reserve Bank’s chief executive. The Governor supervises and directs the affairs and business of the RBI. The management team also includes Deputy Governors and Executive Directors. Regional offices are headed by Chief General Managers or Regional Directors.

RBI Grade B officers can reach upto the level of Executive Directors and even up to Deputy Governors! Most of the Grade B officers will be at least Chief General Manager (CGM) or Regional Director (RD). Promotion at every level is through personal interviews. As per current policies, it takes about 7 years in the cadre of Grade B officer to be promoted to the rank of Assistant General Manager. First promotion is time bound.
